.A Dolly Blanket DIY.

Hello wonderfullers

do you remember the Dolly Blanket Giveaway i did?

well, since not everyone could win, which is so so terribly sad, i thought i would give you a DIY on how to make one yourself!

yippee!

soooo, now i will show you how you yourself can make an utterly lovely dolly cushion and blanket…

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

you will need…

a small sewing machine, half a metre of Calico, a led pencil, fabric scissors, a handful of stuffing and fabric pens.

1. get your piece of Calico and draw a large rectangle that your doll will be able to fit into, also draw a smaller rectangle for the pillow (draw 2 of these, for both sides)

2. cut all of your pieces out with your scissors.

3. draw a pattern or picture on one side of your pillow and one side of your blanket with the led pencil.

4. separate the 2 sides of your blanket and pillow and place an old piece of fabric, or pillowcase or something that you don’t mind getting inky.

5. place the other side on top again and draw over your pencil drawing with the fabric pens. after you have finished drawing, leave it to dry for about 10 mins.

6. once the fabric pens have dried a bit, take out the pillowcase or scrap of fabric and turn the picture so its facing in, then hem the top of the blanket, and after you have hemmed, sew around the sides so it stays together. then, sew the sides of the pillow together, making sure to leave a small space to turn it the right way around and stuff it.

7. once you have turned it the right way around, and stuffed it, fold the edges in and sew along the side.

8. after you have finished sewing, taa-daa! you are very much done! if you plan on washing your bed set (blanket and pillow) you should iron it after you have finished drawing on it with the fabric pens. (to iron: place a tea-towel ontop of your blanket, and iron over it for about 5 mins)

your blythe dolly will love to go to bed now! no more troublesome nights trying to get her to hop herself into bed, (trust me, i know just how you feel)

well, thank you for reading! and i hope you enjoy making many many many more bed sets with lots of different patterns for your dollys…

toodleloooo!
